Govt invites applications for scholarship from SC,BC students

Chandigarh, Mar 7 (UNI) Haryana Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Department has invited applications from the eligible students for award of scholarships under Dr Ambedkar Medhavi Chhatra Yojana for the current financial year.

While stating this here today, a spokesman of the department said that applications would have to be submitted by March 10 to the concerned District Welfare Officer or the head office of the department.

He said that the scheme aimed at providing a monthly scholarship of Rs 1000 to such outstanding students who hailed from Haryana and belonged to block A and B of Scheduled Castes and block A of Backward Classes. Such a student must have obtained 60 per cent or more marks in 10th class. However, the scholarship would be awarded to the students of 10+1 and 10+2.

He said that under this scheme, it has been decided to award scholarships to students of 10+1 during the current financial year so as to encourage them for education.
