Doctors take out rally in Pune
Pune, Mar 7: As many as 310 resident doctors, joined by nearly 200 students and interns, of the Sassoon Hospital today (Mar 7, 2006) took out a rally to draw the Maharashtra Government's attention to their demands, even as the strike entered the sixth day here.
Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) Secretary Dr Amar Shinde said that they had not received any communiation for negotiations.
''We will continue the strike, but serve patients by running the parallel OPD facility. The permission for which was given by the police. We have ample drugs and will run the OPD daily,'' he said.
Asked whether any other action beside, the issue of termination notices, was taken, he said that nobody had communicated with them.
''We were asked to vacate our rooms, but the order has not been implemented.'' The city's resident doctors joined their striking counterparts in Mumbai on March two, demanding better security and stipend among others.
