China ready to try to cut trade surplus with US
Beijing, Mar 7: China will make efforts to reduce its trade surplus with the United States, Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing said on Tuesday.
''China is not pursuing a trade surplus. We are willing, and will continue, to take active measures to gradually resolve the issue of imbalanced trade,'' Li told a news conference.
China put its trade surplus with the United States last year at 4.2 billion. The United States, which also counts goods shipped through Hong Kong, put the surplus at 1.6 billion.
