CET issue: Kumaraswamy allays fears of students

Bangalore, Mar 7 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today said his government was ready to hold discussions with the managements of private and professional colleges in the state on the issue of Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission.

''Parents and students in the state need not worry as my government is keen on settling the issue amicably,'' he told reporters after taking part in the passing out parade of the 24th team of the armed police constables here.

The college managements had at a meeting yesterday decided to meet the Chief Minister to find a solution to the vexed issue. The managements opposed the government's move to bring in a legislation to enable fixing of a seat matrix and fee structure for admissions to medical, engineering and dental courses in both aided and unaided institutions.
