Car bomb wounds 3 in Iraqi city of Hilla
Hilla (Iraq), Mar 7: A car bomb wounded three traffic police officers in the Iraqi city of Hilla south of Baghdad today (Mar 7, 2006), police said.
A second car bomb in the north part of the city caused no casualties. Police said it had imposed a ban on traffic in central Hilla after receiving information that suicide bombers in a vehicle were planning to launch another attack.
Witnesses reported hearing four blasts in Hilla but police said one of the two car bombs had exploded three times.
Hilla, a religious mixed city 100 km south of Baghdad, was the site of the bloodiest single al Qaeda bombing in Iraq, when a suicide bomber blew up his car a year ago killing at least 125 people.
