Boycott of ministers,MLAS called over molestation issue

Imphal, Mar 7 (UNI) The Manipur University Students' Union(MUSU) has decided to boycott all ministers and MLAs at any university function until those involved in the alleged molestation of a girl in police custody were punished.

MUSU president Kh Ashokumar said mass sit-in protests were also on in different parts of the state to demand action against the 'guilty' police personnel.

The Manipur government had suspended five police personnel for alleged involvement in the molestation and harassment of M Naobi in police custody for almost ten days.

The state has been witnessing violent agitation after M Naobi of Thoubal district was apprehended for allegedly having an affair with a militant involved in the killing of four policemen at Thoubal on February 20. After her release she stated that she was stripped, molested and badly beaten up.

The chief minister had also assured the Manipur assembly that action would be taken against the policemen if found guilty.
