BJP hold statewide protests against Banerjee report

Ahmedabad, Mar 07: The Bharatiya Janata Party yesterday (Mar 06, 2006) held state-wide protests against the U C Banerjee Commission report on the Sabarmati Express fire incident of February 27, 2002 which concluded that the incident was an accident.

Rallies, dharnas, burning of Justice Banerjee in effigy were carried out by BJP workers in various towns. They also submitted a memorandum to the district collectors.

A demonstration was held in Sahranpur area of the walled city here, with workers shouting slogans against Justice Banerjee.

Effigy of the retired judge was burnt in various places including the holy town of Ambaji in North Gujarat and in Porbander.
