Bedlam in Upper House over leakage of survey report on minorities
Patna, Mar 07 (UNI) Bihar legislative council today witnessed uproarious scenes over leakage of the survey report on the status of socio-economically backward class of minorities.
Replying to a short notice question of Prof Arun Kumar, Minority Welfare Minister Manjar Alam informed the council that ADRI, a non government organisation, was entrusted with the responsibility of the survey for which Rs 8 lakhs had been sanctioned.
He said Rs 6 lakhs had been released to ADRI which completed the survey but neither submitted its report to the State Minority Commission nor to the state government.
Dissatisfied with his reply, the members created uproar and shouted anti-government slogans.
Bihar Legislative Council Chairman Prof Jabir Hussain intervened in the matter and justified the members saying the issue was public as the report had been published in newspapers. He directed the government to probe into the circumstances leading to the leakage of the survey report when it had not been submitted.
Meanwhile, Energy Minister Vijendra Prasad Yadav promised to conducting an inquiry into the leakage and inform the House.
