Australian PM arrives in Chennai

Chennai, Mar 7: Australian Prime Minister John Howard arrived here this evening on a two-day visit to the city.

He was received at the airport by Tamil Nadu Ministers O Panneerselvam and D Jayakumar and other senior officials.

Later, he drove to the Taj Coromandel Hotel, where elaborate security arrangements have been made for his stay.

During his visit, Mr Howard would visit IIT Madras and would address a luncheon meeting with top business executives, Trade and Chamber authorities.

He would also visit the MRF pace foundation, where Australian player Dennis Lillee is a coach.
