3 sexual harassment cases in Kendriya Vidyalayas this year

New Delhi, Mar 7: There were five cases of sexual harassment of women reported in the Kendriya Vidyalayas and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in the country last year.

In the first two months of 2006 alone the number of sexual harassment cases reported was three, sending the Human Resource Development Ministry into swift action.

Minister of State for HRD MAA Fatmi said Gujarat witnessed two sexual harassment incidents this year. Another case was reported in Uttar Pradesh, he told the Lok Sabha today.

Last year, five cases were registered in Orissa, Uttaranchal, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan and West Bengal.

The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghathan have formed complaint redressal committees at its headquarters here and at all regional offices to inquire into complaints from women employees, Mr Fatmi said.
