YSR announces start of "INDIRAMMA"
Hyderabad, Mar 6 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today announced the commencement of the ambitious ''INDIRAMMA'' scheme to address the basic needs of all villages and towns in three years.
Addressing the press here, Dr Reddy said under the scheme, construction of over 18 lakh houses and 45 lakh individual latrines, pensions for additional 8.50 lakh beneficiaries and drinking water schemes under the Ambedkar Jeevan Dharama in about 8,000 villages will be taken up.
The government will also consider increasing the pension amount from Rs 125 to Rs 200 similar to the payment made by the Centre.
Link roads will be provided to the villages at a cost of over Rs 400 crore under NABARD's RIDF programme and infrastructure in schools created/upgraded at a cost of Rs 220 crore with with Central assistance under the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan.
Under the INDIRAMMA programme, a massive campaign would also be undertaken to propagate institutional delivery among women, curb the HIV/AIDS menace and promote compulsory education up to at least fifth standard, he informed.
