Woods holds nerve to retain Doral title by a shot

MIAMI, Mar 6 (Reuters) Tiger Woods survived a shaky finish to clinch the 48th PGA Tour title of his career with a one-shot victory at the Doral Championship.

The world number one, two ahead overnight in his title defence at the Blue Monster course, fired a three-under-par 69 for a 72-hole total of 20-under 268 yesterday.

Woods secured his third win of the year in five starts, despite bogeying the last two holes.

Fellow American David Toms, who closed to within a stroke of the lead with birdies on 10 and 11, bogeyed the last for a 67 and a tie for second with PGA Tour rookie Camilo Villegas of Colombia (67).

Woods became the second player in the tournament's 45-year history to successfully defend the title, following fellow American Raymond Floyd in 1981.
