'UPA watches MNF govt performances'
Aizawl, Mar 06: The Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) today (Mar 06, 2006) alleged that the Centre wanted to know if the Zoramthanga-led Mizo National Front (MNF) government have been squandering away development funds provided by it.
A statment issued by MPCC claimed "the UPA government sent a letter through the courtesy of Mr Janardan Dwivedi, MP and AICC general secretary to MPCC president Lal Thanhawla inquiring about the extravangant life-styles led by the MNF government." The Centre, among other things, inquired about implementation of National Rural Employment Gurantee Scheme in Saiha and Lawngtlai districts, whether or not the government gave daily employment opportunities in favour of families where there was no government employees, the statement said adding that there are nine more queries of such kind.
The Congress further alleged that Chief Minister Zoramthanga has sought for the help of the Congress president Lal Thanhawla to secure release of certain funds, which the Centre withheld.
