Panaji, Mar 6 (UNI) No untoward incidents were reported today from disturbed areas in South Goa which witnessed communal violence last week following demolition of an illegal structure.

''Curchorem, Sanvordem and other areas are absolutely peaceful and no untoward incidents have been reported,'' Deputy Inspector General of Police (Crime) Ujjwal Mishra said. All precautionary measures have been taken and para-military forces are maintaining vigil, he added.

Meanwhile, a partial ''bandh'' was observed in Margao, Shiroda and some troubled parts as a mark of protest against the violence and the alleged police inaction to contain it.

The Congress and the BJP have demanded judicial probe into the incidents to ''find out the forces responsible behind it'.

Describing Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane as ''Nero'', BJP leader Manohar Parrikar demanded his resignation for the alleged failure of the administrative machinery to handle the situation.

Meanwhile, AICC observer Siddhardh Patil, deputed by party president Sonia Gandhi, said he will submit his report to the party High Command soon.

Mr Patil had earlier visited the affected areas and initiated a dialogue with community elders to restore confidence among victims, even as relief measures were underway.
