Shimla, Mar 6 (UNI) Intensive cold wave conditions were revived in Himachal Pradesh as high altitude areas in the tribal belt had intermittent snowfall while the adjoining higher and mid hills had moderate widespread rains.

The high altitude areas in Lahaul, Pangi and Bharmour valley of Chamba district, Dhauladhar ranges, Rohtang pass (13050 foot) and other high mountain passes had another spell of intermittent heavy snowfall causing sharp fall in mercury.

The Border Roads Organisation, which had opened the Manali-Leh National highway upto Gulaba, and had planned to open Rohtang pass by March 31 might not live up to the deadline if the inclement weather continued, an official spokesman said.

Palampur, Dharamsahala, Shimla, Kufri, Narkanda and parts of Shimla, Solan and Sirmour district had mild rains but the sky remained heavily overcast with strong icy wind sweeping the region.

The state capital Shimla recorded a low of 8.2 degrees, while Sundernagar and Bhunter recorded minimum temperatures of 7.2 and 5.0 degrees Celsius.

The local meteorogical office had predicted rains or snow at some places during next 24 hours with night temperatures remaining low.
