Punjab Appropriation Bill 2006 passed in Vidhan Sabha

Chandigarh, Mar 6 (UNI) The Punjab Assembly today passed the Punjab Appropriation Bill 2006, authorising the state government to withdraw Rs 1448.69 crore for the financial year 2005-06 from the consolidated fund of the state.

The Bill, pertaining to the Supplementary Demands of various departments for the said fiscal, was passed by a voice vote after it was moved in the House by the state Finance Minister Surinder Singla. The Supplementary Demands for Grants for 2005-06, which were also passed individually before the passage of the Appropriation Bill, mainly included the payment of Rs 675.79 crore for Irrigation and Power, Rs 153.75 crore for Planning, Rs 150.97 crore for Home Affairs and Justice, Rs 146.95 crore for Local Government, Housing and Urban Development, Rs 58.34 crore for Health and Family Welfare, Rs 57.53 crore for Rural Development and Panchayats and Rs 33.39 crore for Education department.
