One killed, 3 injured in militants' attack
Srinagar, Mar 6 (UNI) Militants killed a shopkeeper and injured a police Assistant Sub-Inspector and two others, while security forces averted a major tragedy in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said today.
They said a group of three militants entered the house of a Special Police Officer (SPO) Nazir Ahmad at Pakherpora in the central Kashmir district of Badgam late last night and fired upon the inmates.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Mohammad Ramzan and two children of SPO were injured in the firing, they said adding the injured were admitted to hospital.
A spokesman of the Pakistan based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Militants shot dead one Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, a shopkeeper at Tral in south Kashmir district of Pulwama today.
In another incident, security forces today averted a major tragedy when they detected and later defused a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by militants at Parigam Bandipora in north Kashmir to target security force vehicles.
