Chandigarh, Mar 6 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court today issued notice for March nine to the Secretary, Punjab Vidhan Sabha on a petition filed by Akali MP Dr Rattan Singh Ajnala and seven Punjab MLAs seeking directions for registration of criminal cases against the Congress ministers who had been indicted by the Punjab Lokpal.

The notice to the Vidhan Sabha Secretary, who was impleaded as a party, was issued by the court's division bench comprising Justice Amar Dutt and Justice Baldev Singh to apprise the court about the action taken on the report of the Lokpal which had been tabled in the House.

The petitioners submitted that late Justice Dharam Vir Sehgal, who was the Lokpal, had in his report recommended registration of cases for alleged amassing of wealth against four Congress ministers who served under late Beant Singh in 1992 onwards. They were Irrigation minister Lal Singh, Punjab Congress chief Shamsher Singh Dullo, Bal Mukand Sharma and Lakhmir Singh Randhawa.

The petitioners alleged that despite the repeated plea no action had so far been taken in this regard, hence their decision to petition the high court for judicial intervention.
