National Child Commission to be set up soon

New Delhi, Mar 6: A National Child Commission will be constituted soon, Minister for Women and Child Development Renuka Choudhary said here today.

Replying to supplementaries in the Rajya Sabha, Ms Choudhary said the government was fully aware of the special need and problems of children and will be able to address these issues with greater focus by setting up a Commission for Children soon.

The Minister said that the Rajiv Gandhi National Creche Scheme for children of working mothers having income below Rs 12000 per month was open to the children of sex workers too.

She also said that the Ministry was also pursuing the proposal for setting up creches for women Members of Parliament.
