MP Assy passes grants for Commerce, Industries depts

Bhopal, Mar 6 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Assembly today passed by voice vote grants of Rs 580.71 crore for 2006-07 for Industries, Commerce, Employment and Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief and Rehabilitation departments.

Replying to the discussion over demands for grant, Commerce and Industries Minister Babulal Gaur informed the assembly that the state government has received investment of Rs 1,823 crore in industrial sector in the first year.

It will be more than Rs 5,000 crore for the second year and Rs 20,000 crore during the third year.

He said fresh proposals for investment of Rs 7,870 crore in industrial sector and Rs 35,000 crore in power sector has been received.

A provision of Rs 7 crore has been made this year for purchase of medicines for gas tragedy victims.

He said UK-based Caparo Group of NRI industrialist Lord Swaraj Paul is setting up an auto-parts unit at an estimated cost of Rs 80 crore in Pithampur.

Mr Gaur said an Information Technology (IT) park has been approved with the cooperation of Software Technology Park of India in Gwalior for promoting IT.

A special economic zone (SEZ) is being established in Gwalior, besides setting up of a convention habitat centre on the land of Gwalior Potteries on the lines of New Delhi's Habitat Centre.

The Minister said setting up of a bio-technology park is proposed in Jabalpur, while US-based ISN International will start a 2,000 MW thermal power project in Sidhi. He said the projects will generate new employment opportunities in the state.

He said sanction has been accorded to Rs 2,000 crore-expansion scheme for the state capital-based Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) for constructing hydro-electric turbines.
