Left Front sweeps village committee elections in Tripura
Agartala, Mar 6 (UNI) The ruling Left Front was heading for a landslide victory in the Village Committee elections in Tripura.
Of the 1979 seats, results of which had been declared so far, the Left Front had bagged 1734, while the Opposition Congress 143 and the INPT 101.
The BJP could manage only one seat so far.
The CPI (M) alone had won 1727 seats.
Earlier, the CPI (M) candidates were declared unopposed in 1063 seats.
The CPI (M) state committee had congratulated the people of the state for reimposing their faith in the party and the Front.
