K'taka to build fire stations at all taluk headquarters

Shahapur, Mar 6 (UNI) The Karnataka Government has drawn up a Rs 323 crore plan, K-SAFE, envisaging setting up fire and emergency stations at all Taluk headquarters in the state over a period of five years, Agriculture Marketing Minister S B Darshanapur informed today.

Speaking after inaugurating a fire station built at a cost of Rs 1.25 crore here, he said the plan would be implemented with the assistance of NABARD. Land for the project would be provided by the Agriculture Marketing Produce Committees in each Taluk headquarters, he assured.

The stations would have para medical and emergency services among other things, he added.

Bangalore Fire Station Deputy Director D Hanumanthu informed that 25 fire stations would be started in the state this year, of which five would come up in the North Karnataka region.
