London, Mar 6 (UNI) The England cricket team received a jolt with Simon Jones ruled out for the entire Test series against India and his chances of joining the squad in the one day series are also bleak, according to the England cricket board (ECB).

In a release here today, the ECB said Jones underwent an arthroscopy on Friday after sustaining an injury to his left knee before the first Test against India in Nagpur.

''He will begin his rehabilitation program under the supervision of the England one-day international physiotherapist Dean Conway this week.'' ''Simon has been ruled out of the current Test series in India and at this stage it is thought unlikely that he will be available for the forthcoming one-day international series,'' the release added.

Earlier, England lost their regular captain Michael Vaughan, who is recuperating from a knee injury and has been ruled out of the entire series against India.

England are also without opener Marcus Trescothick who returned home for ''personal reason''.
