Jaya's disqualification issue referred to President: EC

Guwahati, Mar 6 (UNI) The Election Commission today informed that the report of Jaya Bachhan disqualification issue had been sent to President A P J Abdul Kalam.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) B B Tandon was here on a two-day poll review meet, where he was asked about the issue.

''We have got a Presidential reference in the matter. We have investigated and sent the report, ''Mr Tandon said refusing to elaborate.

There was a complaint to the President in last year, seeking disqualification of Ms Bachhan from the membership of the Rajya Sabha as she was holding the office of profit by virtue of being the chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Film Development Corporation.

The President had referred the matter to the Election Commisison.
