Jammu, Mar 6 (UNI) Congress-led coalition government in the Jammu and Kashmir presented Rs 14436 crore zero deficit general budget without introducing fresh tax and for the first time Rs 2026.14 crore power budget for 2006-07 in the state assembly today.
The Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig, who holds the finance and power portfolio while presenting the budget said this is for the fourth time he is presenting zero deficit budget of the coalition government.
Announcing that the budget is aimed at basic and fundamental reforms, he said the allocations for the rural area development have been increased to 40 per cent for the year from 30 per cent in the past.
