High-level delegation leaves for Europe
Gangtok, Mar 6 (UNI) A high-level delegation, led by Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling, today left for Europe to explore avenues for promotion and development of floriculture, horticulture, tourism and urban administration in the state.
Official sources here said the team would leave for Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, London and Netherland on March 8 after spending two days in Delhi.
Besides Mr Chamling, the other members of the delegation included Minister for tourism R B Subba, Agriculture Minister Somnath Poudyal, Chief Economic Adviser Mahendra P Lama, Principal Secretary Finance T T Dorji, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister R S Basnet and two MLAs- Ms M Mangar and Ms N Lepcha.
During the 26 day long tour the delegation is scheduled to attend the International Trade Bourse at Berlin and discuss with the media and tour operators of Italy, Amsterdam, United Kingdom for the promotion of tourism in Sikkim.
They would also hold discussion with Dutch entrepreneurs for development of cymbidium orchid, bulbous flowers and fruit processing units.
A MoU with the Chairman International Cooperation, Switzerland, to export watch, ruby ceramic jewels to the country by the state owned Sikkim Jewels, is also scheduled to be signed during the tour.
The Chief Minister is scheduled to return to Delhi On April one and reach here a day after.
