Heavy damage in Mysore due to rains; one washed away
Mysore, Mar 6 (UNI) A person was washed away as heavy rains lashed the city yesterday, causing extensive damage.
Police said the person, who had gone out to attend nature's call, was washed away due to heavy flow in a sewerage canal.
Fifty huts, 40 industrial sheds and three shops were completely damaged in the rains.
According to the meteorological centre, during the 24 hours ending 0830 hrs this morning, the city had recorded 10.2 cm of rain, the highest during summer after the 5.82 cm recorded on March 21, 1998.
The damages were being estimated, official sources said.
