HC directs authorities to implement GO within 5 months
Chennai, Mar 06 (UNI) Madras High Court today directed the authorities concerned to implement the Government Order (GO), which called for the absorption of 1000 retrenched census employees of the year 1991, within five months.
Ms Justice K Sukuna gave the directive on a batch of petitions from A Saravana Venkata Vardhan and others, seeking to implement the GO dated November 23, 2001 of the Chief Secretary.
As per various orders of the State Government, they were to be absorbed in suitable post in government, government undertaking, Corporation, local bodies, public sector undertakings. However, from time-to-time only few retrenched employees were given posts.
Petitioners and others were not absorbed, hence the present petition, they said.
When the matter came up for hearing, Additional Advocate General A L Somiyaji produced a copy of the GO dated March 2, 2006, which stated that the government has decided to implement the November 23, 2001 GO with immediate effect. It also stated that all the heads of departments, collectors, public sector undertakings and autonomous bodies and local bodies under the state government are requested to adhere to the instructions issued in the GO without fail. In view of this, the relief prayed for by the petitioner was granted, the judge said and directed the authorities concerned to implement the GO within five months.
