Grants for marriage of farmers' daughters

Pune, Mar 6 (UNI) State Women and Child Development Minister Harshavardhan Patil today informed that the government will extend grants to the families of those farmers who had committed suicide in Vidarbha.

Mr Patil told reporters that the State Government will give grants to families of the farmers who had taken loans at high rates of interest for the marriage of their daughters, but committed suicide unable to repay the loan.

''Specially, the grant will be given for group marriages, for which an amount of Rs 10,000 has been earmarked for the purchase of essentials like mangalsutra'', the Minister said. So far 65 group marriages have taken place.
