Govt setup school at Hmar refugee camps

Aizawl, Mar 6 (UNI) In order to benefit the Hmar refugees, who fled from Manipur to Mizoram, a primary school has been opened at the Sakwrdai refugee camp here.

Official sources here today said as many as 83 pupils have been enrolled in the schools.

About 553 people from 103 families are being accommodated in the refugee village, which is under heavy security of the Mizoram police.

State government have been making efforts to ensure maximum possible welfare for Hmar Mizo refugees.

Several other departments such as Power&Electricity, PHE, PWD, Health, Relief&Rehabilitation, Rural Development and General Administration have been instructed to give all necessary help to the Home department in giving relief to the refugees.

Currently, the refugees were located in Khawpuar, Ratu, Vaitin, Khawlian, Sailutar, New Vervek and Sakawrdai and that 682 have been recorded as having entered the state.

However, since many families had approached relatives in these villages without reporting themselves, the number could be around 800, the official sources added.
