New Delhi, Mar 06: The Government today (Mar 06, 2006) announced changes in the guidelines governing the increased foreign direct investment (FDI) in the telecom sector from 49 per cent to 74 per cent, thus giving more time to the service providers to comply with new conditions.

''The government has decided to extend the time limit for the telecom service provider companies to comply with the conditions by four months from March three, 2006 till July 2, 2006,'' an official statement said here.

The government had initially allowed a ''correction time'' of four months to the telecom service providers.
