Four labourers die as earth caves in

Rajkot, Mar 06: Four labourers were killed and two others injured when a mound of earth caved in while they were engaged in digging a well in the farm on the outskirts at Ranipat in Surendranagar district, police said today (Mar 06, 2006).

According to the Mooli Police, the incident occurred last evening when the labourers were engaged in digging a well at one Soma Rabari's farm. They were burried under the heap of mound which suddenly caved in, police added.

The police party from Mooli immediately rushed to the spot and the labourers were extricated, police said. Four of them died of suffocation, police added.

The injured were admitted to Rajkot private hospital, police said. Those killed were identified as Rasikbhai (18), Pravinbhai Mansukhbhai (20), Somabhai Bhurabhai (40) and Udesh Jadav (17), the police added.
