Four killed as de-silting chamber in Kol Dam collapses
Bilaspur, Mar 6 (UNI) At least four labourers were killed and three injured after the de-silting chamber collapsed in Kol Dam at Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh today, police and dam sources said.
Four people were killed on the spot, while three others were seriously injured after they were buried under the debris of the de-silting chamber being constructed by a private company AFCON.
The sources said the seriously injured have been admitted to a government hospital at Bilaspur, where the doctors described their condition serious.
The dead have been identified as Naimudeen, Prabhu Ram, and Rajkumar, all from Jharkhand, while the fourth was identified as Nand All from Sundernagar in Mandi district.
The sources said their bodies were later pulled out of the debris by the dam authorities and workers of the company.
A spokesman of the Kol Dam hydel project said it has announced an immediate relief of Rs one lakh each to the next of the kin of the dead, while promising to bear all the medical expenses of the people injured in the incident.
