Explosion in Gaza refugee camp kills 1 - hospital

GAZA, Mar 6 (Reuters) An explosion tore through Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip today, killing one person, a local hospital said.

The cause of the blast in the camp, a stronghold of Palestinian militants, was not immediately known.

An Israeli military spokeswoman had no immediate comment.

Israel frequently carries out attacks against militants in the Gaza Strip, territory it quit last September after 38 years of occupation. There have also been incidents in which militants have been killed by their own explosives.
