Directives issued to execute warrants ahead of panchayat poll
Patna, Mar 6 (UNI) The State Election Commission has issued directives to execute pending warrants in view of the forthcoming Panchayat polls in Bihar.
Official sources said today that all district magistrates and superintendents of police had been directed to execute the pending warrants in their respective districts. Concerned authorities had also been directed to ensure the arrest of candidates against whom warrants were pending when they turn up to file their nomination papers, sources added.
Steps had been initiated to arrest criminal elements in the districts to ensure free and fair panchayat elections, the sources added.
Earlier, a notification was issued to hold panchayat elections in Bihar in eight phases in May.
