Cub dies after falling into well, another rescued

Junagadh, Gujarat, Mar 6 (UNI) A lion cub died while another was rescued today by forest officials after the two fell into a well at Dhanej village of Talala taluka in this district.

Forest officials said the two cubs, about one-and-half years old, fell into the well, near the Gir forest this morning.

The owner of the well immediately informed the forest officials about the incident. Deputy Conservator of Forests Ram Kumar along with his staff rushed to the place and the cubs were taken out.

However, one of the cubs succumbed later.

The surviving cub was shifted to the Sasan Animal Care Centre and it was reported to be in good condition.
