Kolkata, Mar 06: Severely condemning the murder of two party local committee leaders by Maoist guerillas in West Midnapore and Bankura districts in the past two days, the CPI-M has decided to observe a statewide protest day tomorrow (Mar 07, 2006).

Announcing the party's decision, West Bengal state Secretary Anil Biswas, in a statement here this evening, called upon party workers all over the state to bring out protest rallies in their respective areas against the 'increased and senseless' violence let loose by the Maoist guerrilas in three South Bengal districts.

Asking the party cadres to bring out such rallies from every locality at 1700 hours, Mr Biswas urged them not to use mikes in view of the ongoing annual school examinations. But they could always chant slogans, Mr Biswas observed.

CPI-M local leaders Kartick Singh and Gatilal Tudu were killed by separate groups of Maoist guerillas at Lalgarh in West Midnapore district on Saturday last and at Barikul in Bankura district yesterday just before the coming Assembly elections.
