Cow Protection Councils on the anvil in K'taka
Kollur, Karnataka, Mar 6 (UNI) Sri Ramachandrapura Mutt of Hosnagar has proposed to set up 'Go Raksha Parishad' (Cow Protection Councils), aimed at protecting aged and deserted cows, in all taluks across the state.
Informing this to newspersons here, Sri Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swami said the mutt was also contemplating to set up cow banks to give the cattle on loan to those interested on the condition that it should be returned to the bank after it stopped yielding milk. The cows should not be subjected to artificial insemination.
To encourage and promote dairying in the state, the Mutt proposed to procure cow urine at one rupee above the rate of milk per litre and cow dung at Rs ten per kg.
The mutt would bring out an encyclopaedia called 'Bharatiya Go Vishwa Kosha' by compiling all information on Indian cow varieties.
