Kolkata, Mar 6 (UNI) The West Bengal Congress today sought Chief Election Commissioner B B Tandon's intervention to ensure that no statement on future plans, promises and schemes be made in the coming vote-on-account on March 9.

State Congress general secretary Manan Bhuiya told newspersons here that the five-phase election had been announced in the state and the model code of conduct had already been imposed from March.

He asserted that if the ruling Left Front government submitted written statement depicting the economic scenario and the future plans and schemes during the presentation of the vote-on-account, it would amount to definite violation the model code of conduct.

'' We are sending letters to Mr Tandon and Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Debashis Sen, seeking their intervention so that the ruling Front government does not make any statement regarding future plans and promises, '' Mr Bhuniya said.
