Cong assails BJP for misinterpreting N-deal
New Delhi, Mar 6 (UNI) The Congress today flayed the BJP for allegedly creating misinformation about the nuclear deal signed between the US and India.
Congress spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told reporters here that on the one hand the BJP was welcoming the nuclear deal while on the other hand asking questions expressing doubt that the deal would diminish ''our nuclear capability''.
'' There is no question of diminishing our nuclear capability as the entire segregation will be decided by India,'' he asserted, adding the purpose of the BJP in raising the issue was ''to mystify, confuse and confound the issue''.
''We trust the time has come for the BJP to act responsibly in national interest, not to create misinformation,'' Mr Singh said.
He said India's statement in the Lok Sabha today was a reiteration of India's independent foreign policy in which he stressed that there was no shift in New Delhi's policy towards Iran with which the country has had long historical ties. This had put to rest all the doubts about India's stand on Iran.
