CM withdraws Delhi Water Board (Amendment) Bill, 2005
New Delhi, Mar 6 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today withdrew the controversial Delhi Water Board (Amendment) Bill, 2005, that proposed to regulate and impose cess on groundwater, after accepting the "rejection" report of the Select Committee on the matter.
Speaking in the Delhi Assembly when the report on the Bill came up for adoption, Ms Dikshit said she was withdrawing ' the Bill.
''I am withdrawing the Bill, in its present form, for the present,''the Chief Minister said.
She, however, criticised the select Committee for not following the "due procedure". This was objected to by the members of the Select committee.
