Taj Hotels enter into alliance with Shilla Hotels

Mumbai, Mar 6: Taj Hotels, Resorts and Palaces today (Mar 6, 2006) announced a marketing alliance with the Shilla Hotels and Resorts, a leading Korean hotel company, to develop cross-promotional opportunities for both the companies to harness each other's strengths in their respective markets of dominance.

Briefing the reporters, Taj Hotels Managing Director and CEO Raymond Bickson said that the alliance would develop joint marketing activities such as joint promotion in trade shows, food festivals, sales events and niche marketing programmes.

The companies would also assist each other in exchanging sales leads and conducting roadshows across India and South Korea, he said.

Mr Bickson also indicated that the two partners would explore the possibility of joint investment in promotion of human resources, expansion of footages in different parts of the world and promote tourism in each other's countries.

Mansoo Lee, President and CEO, Shilla, observed that the alliance would promote the travel and tourism programmes between the two nations, particularly in the current era of globalisation, of industries and businesses.

''By creating an alliance with an India-based hotel company with properties that have similar brand positioning and quality of customer service as our own, we offer our guests reciprocal privilege and benefits,'' he added.

Taj Hotels has 17 properties, 11 in India and six abroad and this tie-up would be exclusively applicable to all hotels of Taj Group and Shilla Group.
