Assembly to debate crop damage due to hailstorm

Bhopal, Mar 6(UNI) A special debate on damage to standing crops due to hailstorm and unseasonal rains in different parts of Madhya Pradesh will be held in the Assembly.

The special discussion will be held soon under section 139, said Speaker Ishwardas Rohani, when leader of the opposition Jamuna Devi raised the issue during zero hour and sought to know the fate of the notice for an adjournment motion given on the issue.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who intervened, said it was a matter of serious concern that crops in several districts had been damaged due to hailstorm and rains last week. He had already directed the Chief Secretary to submit a report after assessing the damage.

Mr Chouhan also agreed for a detailed discussion on the issue.
