Ashwini Kumar presents Businessworld FICCI-SEDF CSR award to Satyam

New Delhi, Mar 6 (UNI) Minister of State for Industry Ashwani Kumar, today presented the coveted Businessworld FICCI-SEDF Corporate Social Responsibility Trophy to IT major Satyam Computer Services Ltd, for being Corporate Citizen 1 for the year 2005.

Kinetic Engineering Ltd and Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals Ltd were placed second and third respectively.

Mr Kumar also gave away certificates of appreciation to Ballarpur Industries Ltd, Dr Reddy's Laboratory Ltd. and Indo-Gulf Fertilisers Ltd and assured a financial commitment from his MP fund to FICCI to take the CSR initiative forward in his constituency in Punjab.

The Businessworld-FICCI-Social&Economic Development Foundation (SEDF) awards, instituted in 1999, recognise the social conscience of corporates in India and takes into cognisance, the efforts of companies which take time off from their core business activities and take on projects with a social cause, projects that reach out and touch the lives of others.

The award is the first to be constituted for Corporate Social Responsibility in India.

Satyam Foundation, the CSR arm of Satyam Computer Services Ltd (SCSL), currently operates in 5 cities in India and is focused on enabling and empowering the urban underprivileged.
