AIADMK, MDMK begin talks to identify constituencies
Chennai, Mar 6 (UNI) The All India Anna DMK (AIADMK) and the Marumalarchi DMK (MDMK), which entered into an alliance for the May eight Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, today began the process of identifying seats for the MDMK to contest.
After the AIADMK had allocated 35 seats to the MDMK, poll committees of the two parties met at AIADMK headuquarters here and held discussions on identifying the constituencies.
The talks, which lasted for about two hours, also centered around sharing of seats between the two parties for the Assembly elections in neighbouring Pondicherry, party sources said.
AIADMK Supremo and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today constituted a six-member committee to hold seat sharing discussions with alliance parties for Assembly polls in Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Kerala.
MDMK Presidium Chairman L Ganesan, Former Union Ministers M Kannappan, Gingee S Ramachandran and senior leader Durai Ramasamy comprising the four-member committee held talks with the AIADMK committee.
The six-member AIADMK committee comprises AIADMK Election Wing Secretary and PWD Minister O Panneerselvam, AIADMK Headquarters Secretary and Law Minister D Jayakumar, Health Minister and Organising Secretary N Thalavai Sundaram, Propaganda Secretary O S Manian, Organising Secretary and Former Minister K A Sengottaiyan and party election wing Joint Secretary R Viswanathan.
