13 cell phones, sim cards recovered from Karnal Jail

Kaithal, Mar 6 (UNI) The district police here arrested five members of a gang, which used to make extortion calls from the Karnal Jail and recovered 13 mobile phones and nine sim cards from their possession.

The police has also arrested a constable posted at the jail, who helped the criminals in procuring mobile phones and sim cards.

SP Navdeep Singh Virk told newsmen here today that a commission agent of Dhand Mandi, had complained to police on February 22 that Sultan, alias Handa, of Pabnawa village who was lodged in the jail, had been demanding an extortion of Rs 10 lakh from him. The investigation into the matter led to the recovery of the said gadgets from the jail premises.
