Jammu, Mar 5 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir unit of Bhartiya Janata Party has demanded that the state government implement in total the Wazir Commission Report on carving out new districts in the Jammu region.

Addressing a press conference here today, Party spokesperson Dr Hari Om took strong exception to the statement of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in the assembly on March three for setting up new commission, or the government may issue executive order in creating new districts on a need-based basis, keeping in view the topography, distance and other important factors.

The BJP leader said how else should one interpret the statement of Mr Azad, has raised doubts among the people of the region and demanded to implement the report in letter and spirit which recommended to create Kishtwar, Riasi and Samba as new districts in the Jammu region of the state.

It would not be out of place to mention here that National Conference President and the then Chief Minister Sheikh Abdullah had humiliated the people of Jammu province in 1978-79 in the same way by setting up three new districts of Budgam, Kupwara and Pulwama issuing an executive order, he alleged.

The BJP demanded a high-level inquiry, preferably, from Central Bureau of Investigation into the allotment of Rs 1200 crore Sawalkot Hydel Power Project to a single party allegedly without inviting international bids.
