Twenty DMK volunteers booked

Tiruchirapalli, Mar 5 (UNI) The city police today registered cases against 20 Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(DMK) volunteers in connection with the attack on lensmen of various newspapers and cameramen of private television channels at the venue of the DMK's state conference, yesterday.

Police said, on a complaint from the lensmen, cases have been registered against 20 DMK partymen under sections 147, 323, 396 and 506(1) of the IPC.

Over a dozen lensmen and cameramen were assaulted by a DMK mob, when media persons tried to take visuals of MDMK supremo Vaiko's cut out being damaged and burnt by the DMK partymen, after Mr Vaiko joined AIADMK alliance, yesterday.

Two photographers were admitted to the government headquarters hospital.
