Traders to organise ''morcha'' on March 20 against octroi
Mumbai, Mar 5 (UNI) The Maharashtra Rajya Jakat Nirmoolan Samiti will organise a ''morcha'' here on March 20, demanding the abolition of octroi duty.
The committee will also take out a ''rathyatra'' on March 16 which will chart its way through the streets of Mumbai for three days till March 18, Committee President Eknathaji Thakoor said here.
The decision to organise the ''morcha'' was taken during a meeting of traders and businessmen held at the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
A committee press release said, barring three states, including Maharashtra, all other states have decided to abolish octroi with effect from April 1. Maharashtra should also follow suit, it said.
