Written by: Staff

Porbandar, Mar 5 (UNI) Six fishermen, stranded aboard their vessel for the last 12 days, were rescued by the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) after a 16-hour search-and-rescue operation at high seas on Friday, sources said today.

The ICG officials said the fishermen had left Porbandar on February 18 and after two days their vessel developed a technical snag. The owner of the boat informed the officials on February 28, as the vessel had failed to return on the scheduled time.

The operation was launched on Thursday and the vessel was located off the coast of Veraval, where the fishermen had been stranded.

The resuced fishermen were brought back to Porbandar on Friday, the sources added.
